I can't tell you how excited I am that it's almost christmas. I baked these to celebrate.
Otis is very helpful in the kitchen. He's always very eager to check out what's stirring in the mixer, what's bubbling in a pot or what's happening on the chopping board. His helpfulness usually takes the form of taking things out of the cupboards, rolling them around the floor, and then putting them somewhere new - it's not unusual for us to find tins of tuna in the bathroom, or potatoes in the fruit bowl!
Here he is rearranging the bin liners:
This year we've decided to get a REAL tree, very exciting. If you're in Melbourne you can order one from Oxfam too, and help fund their programs against worldwide poverty and injustice.
Stay tuned for more festive news

hello again. given our recent induction into the world of youtube and the progress of otis' upright adventures it seems like a good idea to keep the footage coming. the camerawork is not that great but the star of the show is certainly aware of that he is the star of the show ...
as we recently promised there is now footage of otis promenading ... from one side of the kitchen to the other ...
a couple of days ago otis took his first tentative steps. unaccompanied standing has been going on for a while but there hadn't really been any moves towards walking - just lots of very fast crawling. early on monday morning otis was just out of reaching distance from his trolley - for further information on the trolley see below. rather than popping down before getting up again otis took a couple of small steps and grabbed the handle.
since those first few steps otis has been encouraged to go on longer journeys. this basically involves standing, balancing and walking to mummy or daddy, stopping for a cuddle before heading back the other way. this is often interspersed with some self-directed applause.
otis has been slow to get on to his feet. asha and lulu and nessie - his baby friend posse - are all up off all-fours and walking around like they have been doing it for years. otis has been lagging behind - crawling around like a baby.
we hope to bring you some video footage of otis' bipedal adventures soon.
