Happy new year to all our dear readers, hoping you welcomed the new year in style. Apologies for the break in transmission, we have been in internet limbo for the last little while, but we are now back on deck and ready to share our most recent adventures.
We have just returned from a week in Apollo Bay. Those of you who know the area will know that it is often cold and dreary, even in summer, and last week was no exception. We were determined to make the best of it and swam at the beach most days; Justin, Ili and I even managed a surfing lesson in driving rain and howling winds.
Otis had a wonderful week away with the family. He spent a lot of time engaged in his current favourite activity - drawing. This usually involves Otis chanting "star, star star, moon, moon, moon, bubble, bubble, bubble" and occasionally "wheel, wheel, wheel" and then scribbling all over your newly created space-scape.
Towards the end of the week we took in the spectacular coastline on part of the great ocean walk. Along the way we found a little beach, and rock pools where Otis examined a starfish with Grandma and Grandpa.
Otis loves the water at the pool or in a bath, but it took him a while to get confident at the beach; on our first day he was too scared to walk on the sand. On our last he was running joyfully into the surf, despite the icy waters. We had a lot of fun on our week away at the beach, and I am determined to take in more sand, sun and surf before the end of summer.
