books...
As strange as it seems, given that he can't really understand what he's looking at or what you're saying to him, Otis loves being read to. Perhaps he likes the colours, or maybe the tone in your voice, or maybe he's just advanced for his age?
We read storybooks to him when he's awake and happy to sit up and look; his favourites are Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy and Dr. Seuss' Marvin K. Mooney Will You Please Go Now!
Sometimes I read to him when he's nodding off to sleep, usually whatever I'm reading at the time - articles in the New Yorker, or Who magazine - he's very interested in what's happening with Brad and Angelina. We just finished Blueback, a Tim Winton story.
the great outdoors...
Otis is so interested in everything now; he loves looking at leaves blowing in the wind, and hearing birds chirping. Yuki and I try to take him out in the pram at least once a day. He loves going out, but is starting to be frustrated by lying on his back in the pram bassinet - today we attached the seat so tomorrow he can sit up and see the world.
bath time...
Otis lets out the most gorgeous squeals and squawks when he's in the bath. Even at his grumpiest he is quickly placated by the warm water and lavender bath oil - of course, the grumpy pout returns once you take him out! When he's not grumpy, he loves being wrapped up in the towel afterwards, and getting a relaxing massage with some sorbolene.
gymini and his zoo mobile...
The gymini is a little rug with arches attached, and cute animal toys dangling down. He's quite taken with the purple elephant, reaching out and swatting it with his hands.
He can lay in bed for ages, chatting away happily to the brightly coloured animals swirling above his head.
love to you all,

Hairy McLary is certainly a classic, Otis. You may also find The Hungry Caterpillar of interest, too. Perhaps Uncle Phil will be able to read to you. (You haven't met him yet.) Be good to your parents!

I'm so excited to hear that Otis loves to be read to! I am putting a special gift of books in the post to him tomorrow. I didn't know if Ots would like to be read to, so didn't know if books would be desired. But now that his literary love is confirmed, the books will shortly be on their way....

Given Otis' literary tastes, one wonders what he'll make of his Dad's baby photos which have, after lengthy searching, been found today! I know that Kimberley is concerned that Otis wouldn't see them before he's six. Not making any promises, but I'll do my best to get them to him before that deadline.
